Roads Infrastructure

To ensure a safe road network to the road users, it is equally important to maintain the existing roads network as it is to construct new roads.

Without proper maintenance, roads will deteriorate quickly and reconstruction or rehabilitation of roads will be required prematurely. In other words, routine road maintenance is not only valuable in terms of road safety but also has positive financial benefits.

Daveng has been involved in routine road maintenance (RRM) and Vegetation Control (VC) on national and provincial roads since 2006. Our continuously growing contract supervision and contract administration skills in terms of RRM has kept us ahead of our competition. Our annual internal technical training program produces excellent site supervision with above-average competencies in identifying failures and proposing adequate remedial action. Our site staff is thorough in respect of acceptance control of remedial works performed by contractors. With our refined contract supervision techniques Daveng has become well equipped in RRM and VC, especially under strict budget constraints.

The City of Cape Town appointed Daveng in 2005 to investigate and report on the condition of existing roads in Hanover Park, Manenberg and Heideveld. The report recommended that the municipality prioritise and categorise different phases to plan, budget and implement the rehabilitation and upgrading of these roads to remain serviceable at optimum cost. Furthermore, Daveng was responsible for the design, documentation, contract administration and supervision of these rehabilitation projects for the last 18 years.
